This project installation came to fruition as a result of the property owner proposing an addition to an existing building. The new addition required more parking spaces so an expansion to the parking lot was necessary. Landlocked by Walkers Line, the North Service Road and a creek, the parking lot was expanded toward the creek.
Due to this grade separation, a retaining wall was required and the owner and installer chose Stone Strong systems.
None of the blocks could be on the creek’s floodplain, so the wall was designed with the parking load surcharge in mind and the asphalt was laid directly over the tails of the blocks.
Once again, the block voids give the advantage of providing an optimal location for the placement of the railing, as close to the back of the wall as possible. In a situation like this, maximizing the real estate and quick installation were key factors in choosing Stone Strong.
