The Bridlewood Phase 3 development in Ottawa, Ontario, required a retaining wall solution that could meet the demands of a growing residential community while maximizing usable space. Thomas Cavanagh Construction, in partnership with Claridge Homes and Patterson Group, turned to MCON’s Stone Strong system to deliver both strength and efficiency. With a vertical retaining wall design, Stone Strong eliminated the need for step-backs, allowing for more buildable land and creating a clean, modern look that seamlessly integrates into the neighborhood.
Built in three stages to align with the development timeline, this project required careful planning and adaptability. Temporary step-downs and grading adjustments were made between phases, and when construction resumed, the grading was removed to allow the wall to continue seamlessly. A particularly unique element of this installation was the integration of multiple fence types — including a noise barrier, guard rail, and standard fencing. To support the guard rail, blocks were filled with concrete, reinforcing the wall and ensuring long-term stability.
