Forklift Operator

Overview

Forklift Operators are responsible for aiding in all areas of the manufacturing facility. Primarily working in the stock yard, year-round, in equipment with capacities ranging from 10,000 lbs up to 100,000 Ibs equipped with heating. Forklift Operators are responsible for loading, unloading trucks, and moving materials throughout the yard and plant. They participate in general housekeeping and other various tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and keep logs of inspection of forklift before use on each shift
  • Identify and report any issues to equipment to Supervisor
  • Safely operate a variety of equipment to load, unload and move materials and products
  • Load, unload and move products and materials by hand, or with basic material handling equipment
  • Load and unload customer vehicles with product or other materials
  • Organize and maintain inventory throughout the plant and yard
  • Sort, crate, and stack goods
  • Wrap goods
  • Weigh materials and goods
  • Store cargo and materials
  • Stencil products with pre-made labels
  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory levels
  • Perform other tasks as required

Qualifications
Education Required:

  • High-School Diploma
  • Valid Forklift Certification

Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience operating a forklift in any industrial or manufacturing setting
  • Ability to move materials in safe and efficient manner
  • Ability to assess weights, judge distances and heights
  • Always maintain high level of safety
  • Exceptional attention to details
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment
  • Able to work unsupervised, motivated to complete all tasks
  • Able to communicate, and work well with others in a team environment

General Labourer

Overview

General labourers reporting to their Supervisor are responsible for aiding in all areas of the precast concrete plant and production processes. They are responsible for collecting materials, assembling cages, setting up forms and concrete placing. They participate in general housekeeping and other various tasks throughout the plant.

Responsibilities

  • Receive oral or written instructions to determine work assignments.
  • Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, crouching, and handling of materials
  • Assembly, position and dismantle concrete forms.
  • Bending, tying, and placing reinforcing steel for precast concrete structures
  • Transport raw materials, finished products and equipment throughout plant manually or using powered equipment
  • Mix, place and spread of concrete materials
  • Assist machine operators, assemblers, and other workers
  • May assist with minor repairs and maintenance
  • Clean and remove excess debris from forms, equipment, or facility
  • Participate in daily pre-production meetings
  • Complete field level risk assessments before beginning each task
  • Operate various hand and power tools, machines and other equipment as directed
  • Perform other tasks related to production, cleaning, and housekeeping as required.
  • Able to preform duties both indoors and outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

Qualifications
Education Required:

  • High School Diploma

Skills and Experience

  • Experience working in a production setting
  • Prior experience in a precast setting or working with concrete is considered an asset
  • Always maintain high level of safety
  • Exceptional attention to details
  • Able to work in a fast-paced, high-production environment
  • Able to work unsupervised, motivated to complete all tasks
  • Able to communicate, and work well with others in a team environment
  • Ability to focus and accurately complete both complex and repetitive tasks

  • Willing to work overtime as required

  • Minimum of 3-7 months construction or concrete experience

  • Perform other tasks related to production, cleaning, and housekeeping as required
