Stone Strong – Flat Face – Caps and 8’ Dual Blocks
Stone Strong is known for retaining walls, but its versatility extends far beyond traditional applications. At 1818 Farm & Cidery in Carp, Ontario, Stone Strong products were used to create a distinctive entrance feature that combines function, durability, and visual appeal.
Working with Morley Hoppner Limited, the project incorporated Stone Strong Smooth Face Caps and 8 ft Smooth Face Dual Blocks to build entrance steps and a permanent sign feature. The goal was to create a strong first impression using materials that could withstand Ontario’s changing seasons with minimal maintenance.
Rather than traditional wooden steps, Stone Strong Smooth Face Caps were selected as a long-lasting alternative. These precast concrete units offer excellent durability and require far less upkeep, making them ideal for a high-visibility entrance. The Smooth Face finish also delivers a natural stone appearance that complements the rural character of the farm and cidery.
The Smooth Face Dual Block serve as bold sign supports, creating an architectural feature that strengthens the property’s identity. Together, these products demonstrate how Stone Strong can be used creatively well beyond retaining walls; delivering innovative solutions for signage, site amenities, stairways, and landscape features. The completed installation provides a warm, durable welcome that perfectly reflects the spirit of 1818 Farm & Cidery; a great example of how Stone Strong products can create lasting, practical, and visually striking features.
