The Shea Village development in Ottawa needed a solution that would maximize acreage while ensuring long-term durability and safety. Initially, the city was hesitant to use retaining walls, concerned about their longevity and potential maintenance challenges. Working closely with Patten Homes, Cavanagh, and the Patterson Group, MCON demonstrated that our Stone Strong retaining wall system would not only stand the test of time but also allow the development to avoid extensive sloping. This approach helped create level backyards and streets, giving residents more functional and attractive outdoor spaces.

Five Stone Strong walls were ultimately installed throughout the community, including at the new community centre — a testament to the versatility of the system. Our large, modular blocks made production and installation efficient, while delivering the stability and clean aesthetic needed for a residential setting. By choosing Stone Strong, the client gained valuable land area, avoided unnecessary grading, and enhanced the overall livability of the development.
